Tyson Fury insists he is retired from boxing despite Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk insisting he will be back

Tyson Fury has once again insisted he is retired from boxing despite rivals Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk believing ‘The Gypsy King’ will be lured back to the ring.

Fury has maintained his days in the ring are over after his stunning seventh round knockout win over Dillian Whyte at Wembley Stadium in April.

Not everyone is convinced the undefeated 33-year-old will stick to his promise, however, particularly with the looming possibility of a fight to crown the first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis looming later this year.

Usyk and Joshua will meet in their IBF, WBA, WBO title rematch in July with both men believing Fury will return to fight the winner.

But Fury insists he is happy with his decision to walk away.

‘Just finished a lovely four mile run across the promenade,’ Fury said in a video shared on social media, alongside a caption of ‘blessed’. ‘Got a great sweat on.

‘Very, very happy and contended to be retired, a long time coming. I’m so much enjoying my retirement.’

Both Joshua and Usyk are both of the belief that Fury will fight again.

‘If Fury was in the boxing arena, was to come out of retirement and honour the gentleman’s agreement, there’s a lot of money to be made,’ Joshua said this week.

‘First and foremost, I have a pound-for-pound fighter on my list in Usyk, who’s a tough competitor for sure.

‘People say I only focus on what’s in front of me, which is a good way to be, but also I want to look at what the bigger picture holds so I can steamroll through, I have to, so I can get to the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

‘So, for sure, I feel like retirement doesn’t mean that you’ve completely given up and you’re on the beach clicking your phone drinking a bottle of Corona. I feel he’s still ticking over and he’ll come back if the right fight is presented to him.’

Usyk is also still confident a unification fight will happen and when asked if he believes Fury has really retired, he laughed and told the Block Party YouTube show: ‘No, I don’t believe him!’
