The night Mike Tyson wanted a brawl with basketball icon Michael Jordan
Mike Tyson certainly lived up to his “Baddest Man on the Planet” nickname with this latest allegation.
Mike Tyson and Michael Jordan are two of the most famous athletes to have graced their sport.
Tyson remains the youngest heavyweight world champion at the age of 20 and was undisputed champion by 21.
Jordan meanwhile won six NBA Championships with the Chicago Bulls and was named NBA Finals MVP as many times.
The two crossed paths during a party hosted by Richard Dent in Chicago, and it had a host of big names at the bash, including former promoter Don King and Bears coach Mike Ditka.
Also at the event was Tyson’s former co-manager Rory Holloway and in his memoir of Tyson, he claimed “Iron” Mike had his eyes on adding another victim to his record in Jordan for his apparent romanticism with ex-girlfriend Robin Givens.
At the time, Tyson was at the peak of his powers as undisputed heavyweight champion but also at his most reckless.
According to Holloway, Tyson had clucked one cocktail too many and lashed out at MJ.
“Mike Tyson’s sitting there with his drink of choice, a Long Island Tea, and when he drinks his real feelings come out,” Holloway said in his memoir.
“I’m telling the server to water his drinks down ’cause I see where this is going. Mike stares across the table at Michael Jordan. He says, ‘Hey man, you think I’m stupid? I know you f*d with my bh’.
“Jordan looks like he just saw a ghost. ‘I know you messed with her,’ Mike says. ‘You can tell me.’ (For) Jordan, it’s obvious he just wants to get up and run. He wants no part of this.
“Mike turns to [Mike] Ditka. ‘Man, you think somebody scared of you, all that racist s**t you been talking?’ He says to Dent, ‘Y’all scared of this damn white man, Richard? He ain’t nobody. You gonna let him talk that way?’
“It was a circus, for real, that night. Don King trying to change the subject. Me and John trying to hold Mike down. Mike telling everyone he’s going to bust Jordan’s a**. Jordan’s dressed sharp as always and he can’t get out of there fast enough.
“Although it was a good thing that Michael walked away and diffused the situation.”
