After over two years away from the ring, Manny Pacquiao is set to take on Yordenis Ugás tonight. With so much excitement around the fight, it has its own nickname. “The Legend vs. The Olympian” will feature the two great boxers. Originally this fight was set to feature Errol Spence Jr., the undefeated WBC, and IBF welterweight champion. However, Ugás is the current WBA (Super) champion.

Over the course of his career, Manny Pacquiao has taken on the top fighters in the world. Even at 42 years old, the Philippines’ national treasure takes on the best. Since having his WBA (Super) champion title take due to inactivity, Pacquiao is heading back to the ring to claim his title once again.

This fight is scheduled to take place tonight, Saturday, August 21st at 9 PM EST. Over at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, the fight will be one of the best events of the year. Fans can watch the fight on Fox Sports PPV or YouTube PPV for $74.99.

On the undercard, tonight, Julio Ceja and Mark Magsayo will faceoff for the featherweight title. That fight will be right before the main event. Meanwhile, there are two other fights scheduled for the night. Carlos Castro takes on Óscar Escandón and Victor Ortiz will fight Robert Guerrero.

Pacquiao vs. Ugás Brings Back Real Boxing

While young YouTubers like Jake Paul and his brother Logan have gotten into hobby boxing for large checks, this is different. Manny Pacquiao is a legend in the sport. One of the best pound-for-pound fighters, and arguably THE best. If he is able to take down Ugás, it could solidify his position in boxing history. No theatrics, no UFC fighters, this is the real deal.

No one has more support than Pacquiao, either. With the entire Philippines behind him, the veteran fighter won’t be short on inspiration. However, Ugás won’t be a pushover. He is seven years younger than his opponent and the current champion. Ugás took down Abel Ramos in a split decision victory to gain the welterweight title.

Over the last five years, Ugás is 11-1 with his only loss being a split decision. That loss, to Shawn Porter in 2019, didn’t feel like a loss to many watching. The fact that Ugás didn’t take the title then angered a lot of fans. However, he bounced back and now has a chance to defend his title against the best fighter his weight class has ever seen.

Although Manny Pacquiao isn’t in his prime, there is a lot he still has to offer. While fans harp on his age, he keeps proving to be timeless. Tune in tonight to watch the legend battle once again for the welterweight title.
