FLOYD MAYWEATHER INCLUDES ROBERTO DURAN IN HIS TOP FIVE BOXERS BUT OMITS MUHAMMAD ALI
Floyd Mayweather has named his top five boxers of all time and the list has a number of shocking omissions.
Despite being a student of the sport, Mayweather’s selections move away from traditional picks with Sugar Ray Leonard, Sugar Ray Robinson, Muhammad Ali, and Joe Louis nowhere to be seen.
Inserting himself as the best fighter of all time, Mayweather added to his list by placing the brilliant Pernell Whittaker at number two.
Roberto Duran, the relentless Panamanian, was next, and he was followed by Larry Holmes and Aaron Pryor. Appearing on Fat Joe’s Instagram Live, Mayweather gave his reasons regarding his choices.
“We’ve got to go Pernell Whitaker. I’mma go Roberto Duran, man you put me in a tight predicament,” said Mayweather when speaking to the New York rapper.
“Duran was arguably the greatest lightweight ever and became one of the ‘four kings’ at welterweight and middleweight
“I’ve got to say Larry Holmes, he had the basic fundamentals, he had the jab and even right now he’s still living a great life because he made smart investments.
“Aaron Pryor, the only reason why Aaron Pryor lost a fight was because of drugs. He lost only one fight because of drugs.”
