Tyson Fury compares Anthony Joshua fight to Ali v Foreman, promises to regain his belts

Everybody knows what happened in that fight as Ali used his ‘rope-a-dope’ tactics to take out the much bigger and undefeated Foreman in Zaire and Fury, inactive for two years, is sure he can do something similar against all-conquering champion Joshua.

“This is what’s to come!” wrote Fury referencing a picture of the famous 1974 bout.

“The old champ coming back to fight a man who everyone thinks will KO me, (It’s the) same as Ali vs Forman. The stylish Ali vs ‘The Mummy’ Foreman. We all know what happens in this fight!

“I know you all got me whooped, but I will not lay down or be afraid of some muscles. I have the mentality of a winner – a man who has never lost a fight.

“(I’m) A true champion coming back to claim his throne, This is my era and they (Joshua and Deontay Wilder) are from my time, I must destroy them.

“AJ and Wilder, I’m coming back for you pair (and) my mission is (to) seek and destroy. The only thing on my mind is destruction. Whoever gets in my way will be dealt with accordingly.

“There’s only one winner and that’s the fans. Let’s make the heavyweights great again (and) fight the best in the division.

“Fury = Lineal champ, Joshua = IBF, IBO, WBA,  Wilder = WBC and Parker = WBO, but to be fair Parker is only a young lad and is not on my radar. He must gain experience and mature into a big strong man.

“I hold my destiny in my own hands. May the best man win (and) good luck everyone. 2018/19 the world will see the best fights and see the true heavyweight king recrowned,” he added.

The British Boxing Board of Control are still waiting for Fury to settle on a date for a hearing to potentially grant him a license to box again, whilst trainer and uncle Peter tweeted recently that he wants to leave the organisation behind.

Whatever the case, Fury is pumped to return, as he was during Joshua’s fight with Wladimir Klitschko, so let’s hope this time for the former king can find an easier path to making a solid comeback in the coming year.

Having Fury in the mix will only add more to a division with three champions lining up some top division super-fights in the future.
