Mike Tyson is one of the most influential figures in the world of sports. He has attained unmatchable success in boxing but the former World Champion’s interest in tennis is second to none. His daughter, Milan Tyson loves playing tennis as she took up the game at the young age of three. Interestingly, she has taken inspiration from 23-time Grand Slam winner, Serena Williams.
However, her father didn’t think that Williams was the greatest player in the world. During his podcast, Hotboxin, Mike Tyson affirmed in front of rapper Cordae, that Naomi Osaka is the best player in the world.
Although the former World Heavyweight Champion has always been an admirer of Serena Williams he did change his vote. Interestingly, Tyson was in the podcast with American rapper Cordae, who is the longtime boyfriend of Japanese tennis professional, Naomi Osaka.
‘Iron Mike‘ also came forward in Serena Williams’ support after the infamous 2018 US Open final, where she picked up a defeat against Osaka. At the hardcourt Major final, Williams accused the chair umpire of sexism and even called him a ‘thief’.
Thus, Tyson came forward after the incident and said “Serena was unfairly targeted“. He also added that Williams would have handled everything in the better possible way because arguing with the chair umpire is never a good decision.
Mike Tyson’a daughter was angry at him for not choosing Serena Williams as the best
The former World Heavyweight Champion also revealed during the podcast that his daughter, Milan Tyson has always idolized Serena Williams. Mike Tyson stated that he was not able to believe that his daughter got mad at him for supporting Naomi Osaka, who he referred to as ‘the most beautiful and best player in the world.’
“I can’t believe my daughter is supposed to be mad at me for being with the most beautiful and the best player in the world,” he said.
The last time the fans got to witness Serena Williams on the tennis court was at the 2022 US Open, where she lost against Ajla Tomljanovic in the third round of the tournament. Nevertheless, her retirement was a major blow for all of the tennis fans.
