“More Reasons to Hate”: Despite Canelo Alvarez Joining the Elite Mexican Legends Club With Charlo Win, Fans Call Him Out for Allegedly Ducking Mike Tyson’s “Mexican Monster”

Canelo Alvarez has once again shown why he is the pound-for-pound king. He managed to achieve a sound victory against Jermell Charlo, last night as the two undisputed champions went toe-to-toe at the T-Mobile Arena Las Vegas. Going into the fight, even though Alvarez was the clear favorite, not many had believed that the fight would be so one-sided. Many had staked their belief on Charlo defeating the champion.

However, the undisputed super middleweight champion proved the doubters wrong. Moreover, he even ended up making history with this victory. He is now the 4th Mexican Born fighter to have won 20 title fights. With this, he has joined the ranks of other Mexican legends such as Julio Cesar ChavezRicardo Lopez, and Marco Antonio BarreraESPN Ringside shared the news of Alvarez reaching another milestone in his career on social media.

As the news of this huge achievement of Canelo Alvarez surfaced, the response from the fans was rather negative. Many accused him of cherry-picking his opponents and even brought up him not facing ‘The Mexican Monster’ David Benavidez. Earlier this year Benavidez had sent him a huge offer of $50 million, which Alvarez totally disregarded.

One fan accused Alvarez of ducking both Benavidez and Demetrius Andrade.

 

Another fan mourned the death of Salvador “Sal” Sánchez who died tragically in a car accident back in 1982. He stated, “Salvador was taken way too early from us. He definitely would’ve been the greatest of em all.”

 

 

Meanwhile, one fan downplayed Alvarez’s achievement and pointed out that he fought against “a fighter going up 2 weight divisions”.

 

 

Someone else pointed out that this news is going to make Marquez “have a very bitter week”. Moreover, he claimed that with this he’ll have “more reasons to hate Canelo”.

 

 

However, not all comments were negative, one fan called Alvarez “the greatest Mexican fighter ever.”

 

 

Another fan accused Canelo of cherry-picking his opponents while stating that the other three, sought out the best fighters.

Overall, the fans didn’t appear to be too happy with the news. Though it matters not, as Alvarez is already looking for his next title bout. Fans are hoping that he will fight Terence Crawford or Benavidez next.
