Adrien Broner withdraws from December 2nd return with hand injury

Ian Green vs Vaughn Alexander serves as the new main event

Don King Promotions revealed today that Adrien Broner is out of his December 2nd clash with Chris Howard after aggravating a hand injury suffered in last June’s decision over William Hutchinson.

Per Broner (35-4-1, 24 KO), he’ll be ready to go “in late February” for a “championship opportunity.” The 34-year old has fought just twice in the nearly five years since falling to Manny Pacquiao, edging out Jovanie Santiago in 2021 before ending a two-year layoff with that win over Hutchinson.

“The hell with tune-up fights,” said Broner. I’m ready to take on any of the champions in the 140- and 147-pound division. I’m ready to fight the big guys. Everything they think I don’t have, I still got. I’m ready to fight Ryan Garcia or, Rolando Romero or the winner of the Regis Prograis—Devin Haney fight.”

The rest of the card will proceed as planned with Ian Green (17-2, 11 KO) vs Vaughn Alexander (18-7-1, 11 KO) as the new main event. Tre’Sean Wiggins (15-5-3, 8 KO) is also on call against either TBA or Christopher Rodriguez (12-0-1, 10 KO) depending on whether you believe the press release or BoxRec.

King vowed to announce four more “title fights.”
